The city of Sofia doesn't has a lot of fancy hotel and Sheraton Sofia Hotel Balkan is one of very few five star hotels located in the heart of Bulgaria's capital. I fell in love with it since the first time I saw their galleries on the web, its chandeliers, grand marble staircase, I just cant help not to reserve it, this is an old grandeur style hotel which I find endearing and I believe that the quality of Starwood chains won't be disappoint me.
THE LOCATION
Superb ! Close to the main attractions in Sofia, walk out the front door and pretty much everything worth seeing is 10 or less minutes walk .
Sofia Hotel Balkan literally located still in the same area of the President Palace, well actually the hotel is in the same building like the palace, so don't be surprise if you meet Mr President of Bulgaria around in the lobby.
Actually that was what happened when we did check in, many guys with black suits and earphone, I believe they were waiting for someone that important, which actually correct, they were there for the President.
THE STAFF
Upon arrival we were greeted by one helpful staff that went the extra mile to answer all our questions. And the door man who help us with our luggages to our room was a very kind old man. We didnt have any complain at all about the staffs and their hospitality.
THE ROOM
As other reviews have said that the room was pretty small, fortunately we didn't feel that way, I could say that room was spacious, bed was incredibly comfortable, though the furniture was a little tired looking or was it just classic look. Our room overlooked to the square and the city lights which is beautiful.

THE BREAKFAST/DINING
Our room was booked without breakfast as we wanted to spend all day out and about. We didn't use any hotel facilities nor services other than the free wi-fi that was worked well. But we had our afternoon high tea in the Lobby Bar Pliska that is located just behind the receptionist desk. Great service !
Will we stay in this hotel again? Without a doubt yes, for the sake of the location and services.
