This year we have spent our summer holiday in Sardinia, Italy. Another Mediterranean island to explore. And this island is so big and needed a clear itinerary which area you want to explore. One of the cities that we visited is Oristano. A big city that easy to travel to because it has an international airport

During our stay in Oristano, we visited Is Arutas, one of the most iconic beaches in Sardinia. To reach Is Arutas, we took a public bus from Oristano, which provided a comfortable ride with beautiful views along the way. In no time, we arrived at our destination and were mesmerized by the beauty that awaited us.
✅Is Arutas: A Beach of Colored Sand
Is Arutas is renowned for its unique sand, made up of tiny, colorful grains that originate from granite rocks. The sand here is very fine and white, with shades of green, red, and cream, creating a stunning landscape. This is the perfect place to play and relax, especially for our toddler who loves playing in the sand. We could spend hours just building sandcastles and soaking up the sun.
✅Natural Beauty and Activities
Around Is Arutas, there is plenty of natural beauty to enjoy. The clear blue sea creates a peaceful atmosphere, while the surrounding cliffs add to the breathtaking scenery. We also saw some visitors snorkeling and swimming, enjoying the rich marine life in the area.
Is Arutas is a breathtaking sanctuary that invites visitors to unwind in a serene environment, where the focus is entirely on leisure and relaxation. This idyllic beach is free from commercial beach clubs that impose entrance fees, allowing everyone to enjoy its beauty without any financial barrier. The atmosphere is wonderfully tranquil, with no loud music to disrupt the peace; instead, the only sounds that fill the air are the soothing whispers of nature—the gentle lapping of waves against the shore, the rustle of nearby vegetation, and the distant calls of seabirds. It is a perfect escape for those seeking a quiet retreat to connect with the natural world.
✅Proximity to Tharros
Is Arutas is located very close to the archaeological site of Tharros, which is one of the main tourist destinations in Sardinia. After enjoying our time at the beach, we decided to visit Tharros, just a few minutes' drive from Is Arutas. At Tharros, we could explore ancient ruins that provided us with insights into the rich history and culture of Sardinia.
